The two Alabasta starter decks cost $5 more than the ones Bandai put out in July, and the July decks are already selling for more than the new list price.

Bandai will charge $16.99 each for the two One Piece starter decks arriving Dec. 18, 2026: ST-37 The Desert Princess and the Pirates, and ST-38 Baroque Works. The six starter decks it released on July 31 were $11.99. That is a $5 increase, 42% on the cheapest sealed way into the game, and it lands on the two decks aimed squarely at new players.

Our data: those July decks did not stay at $11.99 either. Reading TCGplayer's live English listings for all six sealed decks at 8:46 a.m. ET on Oct. 17, 2026, across 311 listings, the median cheapest copy cost $20.72 with shipping. One shop's read, and the method is at the bottom of the page.

How much does a One Piece starter deck cost after the ST-37 price increase?

A One Piece starter deck costs $16.99 from Dec. 18, 2026, up from the $11.99 Bandai charged in July, according to its English product pages for ST-37 and ST-38.

Bandai updated both pages on Oct. 16. The new number sits between the two tiers it has been running: $11.99 for the standard decks that came out July 31, and $19.99 for the ST-30 EX Luffy and Ace deck from June 12.

There is one wrinkle in the paperwork. The ST-37 and ST-38 pages both say December 18, 2026, while the row for ST-38 on Bandai's products index says December 19. Nobody had reconciled the two when we read all three pages on Oct. 17. Retailers are not waiting on the fine print: ToyWiz had an ST-37 preorder up at $39.99 that morning, marked as shipping in October, which is 2.4 times list and two months before Bandai says the deck exists.

What comes in the ST-37 and ST-38 starter decks?

Each deck holds a 51-card constructed deck, 10 DON!! cards, a playsheet and a three-card bonus pack, according to Bandai's product pages.

That bonus pack is the real change. The July decks shipped with a sealed OP-16 The Time of Battle booster pack in the box, a $4.99 pack from the set that was current then, with secret rares and a treasure rare in its rarity list. ST-37 and ST-38 drop it for a three-card bonus pack, the format Bandai used in the $19.99 ST-30 EX deck in June, where the pack drew from 17 types.

Both new pages list the rarities as one leader card, two super rares and 14 commons. That also adds to 17 types, and the pages do not say whether the line covers the bonus pack or the whole deck, so we are not going to guess at it.

The decks are built to fight each other. ST-37 is Red/Blue, and Bandai's page pitches it as a deck to "Battle with characters from the Straw Hat Crew and the Kingdom of Alabasta!" ST-38 is Blue/Black, cycles your hand and knocks out your opponent's characters. Neither card list is public yet: the product pages carry no card images, and the official art for ST37-001 and ST38-001 was not online when we checked on Oct. 17.

Cards from both decks become tournament legal seven days after release in a given region, so Dec. 25 if the Dec. 18 date holds, and earlier at a store running a pre-release. Both pages list OP-18 The Dominance of God, out Nov. 20, as a related product, which is the set these decks are meant to grow into.

Are One Piece starter decks worth it for collectors at $16.99?

Four of the six July starter decks cost more than $16.99 on TCGplayer when we read the listings on Oct. 17, 2026, which puts Bandai's new list price under what the last wave actually sells for.

Cheapest English listing, shipping included, at 8:46 a.m. ET that morning:

  • ST-32 Roronoa Zoro, $32.97
  • ST-31 Monkey.D.Luffy, $26.99
  • ST-34 Charlotte Katakuri, $22.95
  • ST-33 Kuzan, $18.49
  • ST-36 Eustass Kid, $14.99
  • ST-35 Sabo, $11.25

Our read of TCGplayer's cheapest English listing for each of the six July starter decks, 8:46 a.m. ET Oct. 17, 2026. Chart: Liquid Pixelz

TCGplayer's market prices, which it builds from completed sales, ran from $16.05 to $31.32 across the same six products. Five of the six were listed above their own $11.99 release price, and the sixth, ST-35 Sabo, sat $0.74 under it.

My read, as one dealer: $16.99 is still the cheapest sealed One Piece product that comes with a guaranteed leader card and a legal 51-card deck, and Bandai built these two to face each other, so the real ticket is $33.98 for anyone who wants both. The part to watch is the bonus pack. A booster pack from the live set carried a known $4.99 of value and a lottery ticket attached. Three cards out of a 17-type pool carry neither, and if they come back as commons, these decks lose the piece that helped the July six hold their price. We ran the same sealed-versus-list math on the $24.99 Set Sail deck set in the SD-01 breakdown, and the pack and box counts for the rest of the lineup are in our counts piece.

Quick answers

When do the ST-37 and ST-38 starter decks release?
Dec. 18, 2026 in English, per both Bandai product pages. Bandai's products index lists ST-38 for Dec. 19, and the mismatch was still there when we checked on Oct. 17, 2026.
How many cards are in a One Piece starter deck?
ST-37 and ST-38 each hold a 51-card constructed deck plus 10 DON!! cards, a playsheet and a three-card bonus pack, per Bandai's product pages.
Are ST-37 and ST-38 cards tournament legal at release?
No. Bandai's pages say the cards are legal seven days after the release date in your region, and legal earlier at a store running a pre-release.

How we got these numbers. Our data: we read TCGplayer's live English listings for the six sealed ST-31 to ST-36 starter decks through TCGplayer's own listing feed, sorted by price plus shipping, between 8:46 and 8:47 a.m. ET on Oct. 17, 2026, recording the cheapest all-in price, the listing count and TCGplayer's market price for each product. That is 311 live listings across six products. Listing prices are asking prices; market prices are TCGplayer's own figure, built from completed sales. Bandai's list prices, release dates and contents were read from its English product pages the same morning, and the saved reads are in our repository. One shop's data.
